Philosophy of the Fund
Favourable consideration is given to projects which meet the philosophy of the Fund, namely the promotion of frienship and understanding between the two peoples, with an emphasis on, but not exclusively so, young people.
The projects should :

- encourage ongoing contact and exchanges between the people of France and New Zealand
- promote the exchange of information and knowldege about each country
- enhance the understanding of respective lifestyles, cultures, mores, tastes or environments
Criteria
- Applicants must be New Zealand or French citizens, or be normally resident in New Zealand, France or the French Pacific territories.
- The projetcs must take place in New Zealand, France and/or the French Pacific.
- The projects which benefit the wider community are favoured. Funding for individual travel and study are unlikely to be given high priority.
- The projetcts should be 'visible' and have a strong people-to-people content.
- Grants are made normally for projects which can be completed within 12 months (though provision can be made for longer term projects).
Specific Rules
- Grants do not include provision for the payment of salaries or administrative overheads
- Grants will not be made for commercial or political purposes or to buy assets or property
- Grants are not made retrospectively
- The value of each grant will be determined by the Joint New Zealand/French Board at its sole discretion and the Board's decision is final
