Sharing research knowledge
David Rice, from AUT University spent two weeks in Paris at the laboratory of Dr Rose Katz, Pitie-Salpetriere Hospital. The focus of his trip was to learn about a technique pioneered at the hospital and only performed in a handful of neurophysiology laboratories worldwide. “This is a technique that I intend to use in my PhD research, which is exploring the mechanisms behind reflex muscle weakness after knee injury/arthritis and ways in which medical professionals can prevent or reduce this problem in order to improve rehabilitation and outcomes for patients”, said David Rice.
