Dr Nathalie Philippe from the University of Waikato and Mme Hélène Carpentier from the city council of Le Quesnoy, organized this history conference to bring scholars together for the 90th anniversary of the liberation of the town. The conference - which attracted scholars, dignitaries, descendants of NZ veterans who fought at the battle of Le Quesnoy, secondary and tertiary French and English students – has resulted in a number of projects involving people from both countries..
