Translation of ‘The Collector’s Dream’ by Pierre Furlan
Translation of The Collector’s Dream was begun in late June of 2009 and completed in February 2010, at which point it was sent to the publisher, Victoria University Press, for editing.
This stage was completed in June, with VUP deciding in the meantime to delay publication until early September in order to take advantage of an invitation for Pierre Furlan to appear at the Christchurch Writers and Reader Festival on 10 September. Unfortunately, due to the earthquake, this was cancelled.
However Pierre was able to come to New Zealand for the launch, which was held at Unity Books in Wellington on 7 September. The publication of this translation provided opportunities for highlighting literary links between New Zealand and France.
